A New E-commerce Site That Highlights black Beauty Brands
Have y’all heard of Thirteen Lune?
It’s a new e-commerce site that highlights beauty brands created by people of color.
Their website says it is “designed to inspire the discovery of beauty brands created by Black and Brown founders that resonate with people of all colors. It reframes how Black and Brown beauty brands are perceived not only from an industry perspective, but also for the consumer giving each brand a platform to educate and engage a wider audience”.
It is supported by celebrities – Diddy, Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts from cofounder Nyakio Grieco, who already owned her own beauty brand, Nyakio Beauty.
She says Thirteen Lune authentically fosters allyship.
“I have partnered with my dear friend and pioneer of inclusive e-commerce, Patrick Herning, who is a committed ally through this platform and beyond. Together with Patrick and a diverse and dynamic team of industry experts, thirteen lune will set a new tone and landscape for inclusivity in beauty.”
She launched Thirteen Lune after being inspired by the racial awakening during the COVID-19 pandemic, and wondering why retailers don’t give Black founders “more shelf space, more representation.”
The site is an online destination grounded in global and cultural traditions — with a laser focus on inclusive beauty. The website also serves as a site for discovering Black and brown beauty founders who create unique products for all.
She says, “We have brands from Africa, from Southeast Asia, from China, from the Dominican Republic, but they are products that have to work on people of all colors, hair texture, skin types and really tell a founder story.”
The website currently features everything from face and body to hair, makeup and wellness brands. Brands include Ami Colé, Buttah, JINSoon, BOMBA CURLS, BeautyStat and many more.
