    What is a Wellness Wheel?

A wellness wheel is a model that represents eight dimensions of wellness:

Physical: Recognizing the need for physical activity, diet, sleep, nutrition

Spiritual: Expanding our sense of purpose and meaning in life

Emotional: Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships

Intellectual: Recognizing creating abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills

Occupational: Personal satisfaction and enrichment derived from your work

Environmental: Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being

Social: Developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system

Financial: Satisfaction with current and future financial situations

All are necessary to have a balanced and happy life.

All areas are inter-connected and being fulfilled in one area will affect other areas as well. While the eight aspects mentioned are core areas of wellness that need to be focused on, wellness wheels serves the same purpose for everyone: making sure that your health values and needs are met, every person’s wellness wheel may differ slightly.

They can differ from one person to another depending on your personal needs.

How Can a Wellness Wheel Help?

A wellness wheel can help you:

    • Identify what your core health values and needs are
    • The things that you need to live a fulfilled and healthy life.
    • Identify the things that you need to do to be fulfilled emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, environmentally, financially, occupationally, or whatever other needs you have.

It helps you by letting you know in what areas you need attention, improvement or drastic change.
